Day 1: Start Nairobi

Your Africa adventure begins as the plane touches down in red-earthed Nairobi. Make your own way to our hotel for the night on the edge of Nairobi National Park. Set your bags down and keep a look out for wildlife grazing on plains below from its pool deck, bars and restaurants. Meet the team and feel the excitement build as your Trip Manager runs through the itinerary. This evening you’ll have a chance to head out for some dinner at a local restaurant, a perfect time to practise your ‘Jambo’ (hello) and ‘Asante-sana’ (Thank you very much). Get to know your new mates over a hearty Kenyan meal before a big day tomorrow.

NairobiWe start the day with a hot breakfast at the hotel before meeting our local guides and loading up in the safari vehicles for the start of our great Masai Mara adventure.Maasai Mara National Reserve
We’ll pass down and through the Great Rift Valley as we arrive at our classic African safari lodge, just in time for lunch in the famous Maasai Mara. After lunch, you’ll have time for a quick siesta or a dip in the pool. This afternoon will include your first game drive, seeing some of Africa’s vast array of wildlife both big and small on the rolling hills of this magnificent nature reserve.

Day 3: Maasai MaraMake Travel Matter

Maasai Mara National Reserve
This morning you have the option for a once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon Safari experience, or join the early morning game drive – one of the best times to see the wild animals as they relax in the cooler climate before the midday heat. In the late morning we’ll all head back to the lodge for some lunch and lounging around the pool, before departing on an evening game drive in search of Africa’s elusive big cats: the lion, leopard and cheetah. This reserve is the scene of one of nature’s most incredible and humbling events: the Great Migration. During the right season, watch with your jaw open as millions of wildebeest and zebra risk their lives crossing crocodile-infested waters with lions lurking on the banks as they bravely press forward to greener pastures.

Take a morning Game Drive in the Maasai Mara (MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience)Hop in the safari truck for a scenic jaunt through the rolling plains of the Maasai Mara. And watch out for the ‘Big Five’.  Maasai Mara Balloon SafariRise with the sun as this excursion takes-off at sunrise for a spectacular start to the morning. Wildlife spotting commences immediately as you drift along the Masai Mara savannah from just a few feet above to ground to high in the sky for glorious views. The flight lasts about 50mins and is followed by a bush breakfast complete with bubbly.

Day 4: Maasai Mara to NairobiMake Travel Matter

Maasai Mara National ReserveWe’ll treat ourselves to our last spectacular morning drive in the unforgettable Maasai Mara before we head north. Make sure your camera’s ready for your last glance. What a place.NairobiThis afternoon we head back to Nairobi for an unforgettable Make Travel Matter experience. In Kibera, Africa’s largest slum, we’ll visit the Mirror of Hope foundation, a community-based organisation that enhances education, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for vulnerable children, youths and women. After meeting the locals (and feeling inspired), head back to our Nairobi hotel to relax at the pool, get a spa treatment or spot wildlife from the bar before choosing a dinner venue at one of the hotels restaurants.

Day 5: Nairobi to Amboseli

NairobiEveryone ready for more wildlife? Of course you are.  A morning game drive in Nairobi National park gives us our best chance to spot some majestic rhinos. Then it’s time for ALL the feels as we visit an elephant orphanage, where the locals are doing some heartwarming work to reintegrate adorable baby elephants back into the wild. Nawww.AmboseliThen, after an included picnic lunch (and a quick visit a Curio Shop) we’ll head to our lodge on the edge of the Amboseli National Park. More epic scenery to soak up. Another included dinner to enjoy. The good times don’t stop rolling.

Day 6: AmboseliMake Travel Matter

Amboseli
After our morning’s buffet breakfast, we will do a short safari walk to a Maasai village, guided by Masaai warriors as they teach us about their culture and everyday lives co-existing with wild animals. After lunch we will head out to Amboseli National Park, famous for its iconic shots of elephants and wildlife feeding in the foreground while the peak of Africa rises in the background: Mt Kilimanjaro. It’s a photographer’s dream, and it’s all yours. Our final dinner in Kenya will be included back at the lodge.

AmboseliThis morning we will have one final game drive in Amboseli before we head across to the Tanzanian border. We say goodbye to our Kenyan guides as we are welcomed by our Tanzanian guides and drive to the town of Arusha. 

ArushaHere we will visit the Shanga Community Project, offering employment opportunities to disabled community members through arts and crafts.Tarangire National ParkAfter lunch we will head off to our first lodge and national park in Tanzania – Tarangire. Famed for its two African giants; the elephant and baobab trees.

Day 8: TarangireMake Travel Matter

Tarangire National Park
An early start this morning will take us back into the Tarangire National Park for a full day, in the hopes for a glimpse of some of its elusive predators and changing landscapes. We’ll either stay the whole day here with a packed lunch provided, or head back to the lodge to enjoy a hot lunch and a swim in the pool. Save some room for our buffet dinner tonight.

Day 9: Tarangire to SerengetiMake Travel Matter

Tarangire National ParkAfter breakfast we’ll set out in our safari vehicles to our next destination: the Serengeti.SerengetiWe take in views of the Rift valley and the rim of Ngorogoro Crater as we make our way to the main gate of the Serengeti, stopping off to visit Mto Wa Mbu Village and a local market. We’ll drive through the endless plains of this vast reserve to reach our accommodation for the night. Tonights accommodation will be a safari-style lodge in the middle of the Serengeti. A buffet meal will be served for dinner, and you’re free to sit outside and listen to the sounds of nocturnal animals waking up to forage or hunt, all while sitting under the bright canopy of stars in the African sky.

Day 10: SerengetiMake Travel Matter

We’ll spend a full day seeking out the game of Africa’s plains, with predators in hot pursuit of their prey. If the wildebeest migration is around, then you are in for a wildlife treat: millions of wildebeest and zebra grazing for as far as the eye can see really is one of Africas’ greatest spectacles to observe. If you want to make today even more unforgettable, you can opt in for a once-in-a-lifetime Balloon safari. A buffet dinner awaits us back at our safari camp.
